Privacy Policy

The AI Co-Founder ("we", "us") makes AI tools for small business owners: an AI website assistant, an AI Inbox Assistant for support emails, and a Shopify app that brings both to Shopify stores. This policy explains what data we handle, why, and the choices you have. Contact us any time at mohsin@aicofounderhq.com.

Who this applies to

This policy covers business owners who use our products ("customers" or "merchants"), the visitors and shoppers who chat with an assistant on a customer's website ("visitors"), and people who visit aicofounderhq.com.

What we collect

From customers and merchants: your name, email address, website address, and the content of your public website. For Shopify merchants, with your permission: store name, contact email, published products and prices, store policies, and, only when a shopper asks about their own order, that order's status and tracking details.
From visitors who chat with an assistant: the messages they type, their approximate city and country (estimated from their IP address; we do not store the IP address itself), the page or link that brought them to the site, and any contact details they choose to share, such as a name or email.
From support emails (AI Inbox Assistant, if a customer turns it on): the emails forwarded to us, the sender's name and address, and the replies we draft or send.
From aicofounderhq.com: anything you type into our forms and privacy friendly page analytics that do not use cookies.

How we use it

To answer visitors' questions using the customer's own website or store content.
To send customers the leads and conversations their assistant captures.
To draft replies to support emails and, if the customer chooses, send them.
To look up a shopper's order status when they ask, after confirming the order number and email match.
To run billing, provide support, and keep our service secure.

We do not sell personal data, and we do not use customer or visitor data to advertise.

Service providers we use

We share data only with providers that help us run the service: Vercel (hosting and storage), Google (the Gemini AI model that writes the assistant's replies), Resend (sending and receiving email), and Whop or Shopify (billing). Each processes data only to provide its service to us.

How long we keep it

Leads and conversations are kept while the customer's account is active so they can review them, and deleted on request or within 90 days after an account closes. Shopify store data is deleted when a merchant uninstalls our app and Shopify asks us to remove it.

Your choices and rights

Visitors can ask the business they chatted with, or us, to see or delete their conversation and contact details.
Customers can export or delete their data at any time by emailing us.
Shopify merchants: we honor Shopify's customer data requests and deletion requests automatically.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights; see the GDPR and CCPA sections below.

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we process personal data under the General Data Protection Regulation. Our legal bases are: performing our contract with customers (running their assistant and sending their leads), legitimate interests (keeping the service secure and improving answers), and consent where you choose to share contact details in a chat. For data about a business's visitors, that business is the controller and we act as its processor. You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing of your data, to data portability, and to complain to your local data protection authority. Data may be processed in the United States by the providers listed above. To exercise any right, email mohsin@aicofounderhq.com; we respond within 30 days.

CCPA disclosure (California)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act gives you the right to know what personal information we collect, use and disclose; to request deletion; to correct inaccurate information; and not to be discriminated against for using these rights. In the last 12 months we collected the categories described above: identifiers (name, email), internet activity (chat messages and the page that referred you), and approximate location. We do not sell or share personal information for cross context behavioral advertising, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. To make a request, email mohsin@aicofounderhq.com; we verify requests by confirming your email and respond within 45 days.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit, stored privately, and access is limited to what is needed to run the service. Connections to Shopify use short lived tokens that refresh automatically.

Children

Our products are for businesses and are not directed at children under 16.

Changes

If we make material changes, we will update this page and the date above, and tell customers by email.
